Laila Sedky is an Egyptian artist whose work explores love, belonging, self-discovery and the human experience through richly symbolic, narrative-driven paintings.

Drawing on personal experiences, relationships, spirituality and everyday rituals, she creates visual worlds that invite viewers to reflect on their own stories and connections.

Born in Abu Dhabi and raised across the Gulf, Sedky grew up between cultures, which shaped her lasting curiosity about identity, community and human relationships. She holds a degree in Finance from the John Molson School of Business in Montréal, and later trained in fine art in Egypt, including studies under Mohamed Abla.

Before painting full time, she co-founded NOLA, one of Egypt’s best-known dessert brands. The themes that once brought people together around a table now live in her paintings: connection, generosity and belonging.

Working mainly in acrylic and mixed media, she combines autobiographical storytelling with recurring symbols, vibrant colour and layered visual narratives, inviting viewers to find their own meaning in each piece.

Laila Sedky lives and works in Cairo, Egypt.

Art to spread love

Giving Back

Art saved me. Through these charities, I use it to support other people who need saving too.

Cultural Salons

Laila co-hosts cultural salons with the artist Bahia Shehab, bringing people together around art, ideas and honest conversation.

The salons grow from the same belief behind her paintings: that belonging is built when people share their stories with one another.
